Hairdressing FAQ's

I recently had my hairdressing scissors sharpened by an immediate sharpening service in my salon. They now feel very rough, do I need to replace them?

We would always recommend that you only have your scissors serviced using a professional sharpening service, used to working with hairdressers’ scissors. My hairdryer seems to be getting much hotter than before, and my clients complain that it is uncomfortably hot. Is my dryer burning out?

Firstly, if the dryer has a filter, check that it is not obstructed or blocked which will restrict the airflow through the dryer, increasing the temperature of the air coming from the nozzle. Most professional hairdryers will have a removable filter which can be easily cleaned. If the filter is missing, the dryer and element may be choked with hair, again causing the overheating – and probably a burning smell!
